Carlos Alcaraz Wins 2025 French Open After Historic Five-Set Comeback

Carlos Alcaraz etched his name deeper into tennis history on Sunday with a stunning five-set victory over Jannik Sinner in the 2025 French Open final.

In what many are already calling one of the greatest matches of all time, the 22-year-old Spaniard came back from two sets down and saved three championship points before clinching a 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2) win after five hours and 29 minutes – the longest final in Roland Garros history.

Alcaraz, now a five-time Grand Slam champion, became only the third man in the Open era to win a major final after saving a championship point.

His relentless spirit and physical endurance matched the drama and quality on display as he held off world number one Sinner, who was seeking his third consecutive Slam title.

“It was about heart and not giving up,” Alcaraz said post-match, deflecting talk of the match being an all-time classic, instead saying, “I’ll let the people decide.”

The win not only extended Alcaraz’s unbeaten record in Grand Slam finals but also confirmed his status as the leading face of men’s tennis in the post-Big Three era.
